Germany: Strong in renewable energies and resources

Another success story for Germany is their move towards renewable energies and resources. They are leading the world in research and development and are number one in the world in the fields of photovoltaics and wind energy. It is estimated that the renewables market share will be over 18% by 2020. This will relate to EUR 200 billion domestic investment and exports at over EUR 80 billion. The aim is that half of Germanys primary energy consumption comes from renewable resources by 2050. The current focus for research and development investments is on off-shore installations, solar air conditioning, thin-film technology and biogas in fuel cells.
